The renowned London Concert Sinfonia, under the baton of distinguished conductor George Hlawiczka, will partner with him in this performance.
The evening opens with a rare gem: Mozart’s concert aria Ch’io mi scordi di te, K.505, written for soprano, piano, and orchestra. Marion Wilmann, celebrated for the richness of her voice and dramatic presence, will join Portugheis and the orchestra. This extraordinary work has been described by pianist Mitsuko Uchida as “the best aria that Mozart wrote.”
To conclude the programme, Maestro Hlawiczka will conduct the orchestra in Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5, Op. 82, a monumental and emotionally stirring work that remains one of the composer’s most enduring masterpieces.
The concert will be held at St. Stephen’s Church, Gloucester Road, London SW7 — a beautiful and atmospheric venue known for its superb acoustics and historic character.
